About The Position

Nakupuna Companies is looking for a entry level Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant is responsible for working with the Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager to help maintain a sound accounting system, to include preparation of basic accounting reconciliations, Accounts Payable entries, billing creation, and timesheet processing. Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with emphasis in Word, Excel, Outlook, and on-line search engines required.
  • Must be self-motivated, efficient at multi-tasking and possess exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or similar discipline from an accredited institution
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Government Contracting & Deltek Costpoint is preferred.
  • 1-2 years working experience in an accounting environment is preferred
  • Experience in or work for the U.S. military is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Determines operational objectives by studying business functions, collecting and evaluating information, and assessing potential solutions
  • Prepares basic journal entries and account reconciliations and submits to Accounting Manager for review
  • Assists the Finance & Accounting team with transactional functions as necessary, including Accounts Payable voucher entry, employee expense reports, and billing
  • Assists Senior Accountant in new employee setup and related data maintenance, including paid time off accruals, labor posting, etc
  • Recommends controls by identifying problems and developing improved procedures
  • Creates and maintains job aides for various Finance & Accounting functions that can be used for training of future team members
  • Maintains user confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
  • Prepares technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Complete ad hoc/other requests as necessary
