About The Position

The Staff Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the school. This position is responsible for accurately processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions and maintaining meticulous records. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the finance team to uphold the school's commitment to appropriate financial transparency and integrity.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with accounting best practices.
  • Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and proficiency in MS Excel.

Responsibilities

  • FACTS Administration Assist in maintaining accurate tuition and fee payment plan records Communicate with precision and kindness to families regarding payment plans, history, and adjustments.
  • Invoice Processing Receive, review, and verify invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with school policies. Code and enter invoices into the accounting system. Ensure proper authorization and documentation for payment.
  • Vendor Relations Communicate with vendors to resolve discrepancies and address payment inquiries promptly and professionally. Maintain positive vendor relationships through effective communication and timely payments.
  • Payment Processing Prepare and process weekly or monthly payment runs, including checks, ACH transfers, and electronic payments. Ensure all payments are made on time and in compliance with payment terms.
  • Expense Reimbursement Manage employee expense reimbursement requests, review receipts and ensure compliance with school policies. Process and reimburse approved expenses in a timely manner.
  • Reporting Maintain organized and accurate accounting records and filing systems. Assist in the month-end closing process and reconciliations. Generate accounting reports and assist in the preparation of financial statements as needed. Provide financial data and support for audits and budgeting processes.
  • Compliance Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal financial policies. Stay updated on changes in accounting and tax regulations that may affect the accounting processes.
  • Impeccable confidentiality, limiting sensitive financial information to business office personnel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, maintaining warmth and friendliness in all communications.
