About The Position

1 Priority Environmental Services, LLC, and EIS Holding company, is hiring for a staff accountant. This position will report to the business unit controller and will support the finance team by performing day-to-day accounting tasks to keep the business unit running smoothly and efficiently. Critical functions include maintaining the general ledger, preparing financial reports, and reconciling accounts. Position Description - Staff Accountant Business Group/Dept: Finance FLSA: Exempt Reports To: Controller Date: December 15, 2024 Purpose of the Position Support the accounting department by performing daily and routine accounting tasks, including maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and reconciling accounts. The Staff Accountant ensures the accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions and contributes to the overall efficiency of the finance team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices (GAAP).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Record journal entries and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely posting of financial transactions.
  • Perform account reconciliations for bank statements, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts, resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Process invoices, payments, and collections.
  • Verify the accuracy of vendor invoices and resolve payment-related issues as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Provide data and insights to support management decision-making.
  • Monitor and track company expenses, ensuring adherence to budgets and policies.
  • Prepare and process employee expense reports.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of schedules, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Assist in gathering documentation and preparing reports for tax filings and audits.
  • Ensure all financial activities comply with company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Support internal control processes to safeguard company assets.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve accounting processes for greater efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide general support to the accounting and finance team, including data entry, filing, and responding to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
