About The Position

The Staff Accountant supports daily accounting functions, including accounts receivable, general ledger, and fixed asset management. Key duties include bank reconciliations, prepaid asset reconciliations, invoicing for government contracts, and preparing fixed asset reports. The position ensures accurate asset recording, assists with the annual audit, handles journal entries, and identifies process improvements. Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
  • Minimum 2 years of accounting work experience. Will consider recent college graduate in lieu of experience.
  • A combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • Solid understanding in US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 and accounting software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, effective verbal and written communicator, team leadership and the ability to handle multiple tasks required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Must be a Christian holding to the beliefs set forth in the Statement of Faith, expressed by a personal testimony and Christian conduct.
  • NOTE: A limited amount of work-related travel may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Certification candidate preferred.
  • Prefer experience with Great Plains, SalesForce, Excel Pivot tables, and Adaptive Insights.

Responsibilities

  • Performs certain day-to-day accounting functions as assigned including:
  • Accounts receivable
  • General ledger
  • Fixed assets
  • Prepares bank account reconciliations between the general ledger and the cash management module.
  • Reconciles the prepaid assets monthly and records the appropriate journal entry.
  • Compiles monthly invoicing for government contracts.
  • Prepares the monthly fixed asset reports. Works with Vice President of Operations and Maintenance Director to ensure that capital assets are recorded properly.
  • Coordinates with various staff to ensure that the fixed asset ledger is accurate and that retirements are properly recorded.
  • Assists in support and preparation of the annual audit.
  • Writes-up and inputs journal entries into general ledger as needed.
  • Oversee and provide guidance to the Accounts Payable Specialist and Accounting Clerk.
  • Identifies and advises change(s) to current processes that are within the position responsibilities.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
