About The Position

The Staff Accountant plays an important role in maintaining accurate accounting records and supporting daily, monthly, and annual reporting processes. This position prepares and reviews journal entries, reconciles assigned accounts, and assists with month‑end close activities.

The role works closely with Accounting Management and teammates to ensure records comply with generally accepted accounting principles and credit union accounting standards. In addition, the Staff Accountant helps research and resolve accounting questions from members, internal departments, and management, while supporting continuous improvement across accounting processes.

Requirements

• Two to four years of similar or related accounting experience
• A two‑year college degree, specialized accounting coursework, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience working with general ledger systems and automated accounting software
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to manage deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast‑paced environment
• Professional communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and compliant accounting records for the Credit Union
• Support timely and accurate month‑end, quarterly, and annual reporting
• Ensure assigned general ledger accounts remain balanced and reconciled
• Assist with account research and resolution of discrepancies
• Help maintain audit‑ready financial documentation
• Contribute to reliable financial information that supports organizational decisions
