About The Position

Staff Accountant Huntsman is seeking a Staff Accountant supporting the Polyurethanes (PU) Division located in Arlington, Texas. This position will report to the Accounting Supervisor. Job Scope The Staff Accountant supports the financial accounting function for HBS, working closely with the Accounting Supervisor and receiving functional support from the Americas Accounting Manager. This role is responsible for general ledger–related activities and contributes to accurate financial reporting, compliance, and continuous process improvement within a fast-paced, collaborative environment. In summary, as the Staff Accountant, you will: Contribute to monthly financial close activities, including the proper application of US GAAP, preparation and review of journal entries, variance analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations. Support cross-functional collaboration with Financial Reporting to ensure the accuracy of financial statements. Participate in cost accounting activities, including monitoring batch production data, supporting physical inventory counts, calculating product costs, and analyzing inventory cost and usage variances. Provide support during the annual audit process by collecting and preparing supporting schedules and responding to audit requests. Continuously identify and implement improvements to month-end close and accounting processes. Ensure adherence to internal control policies and maintain compliance with SOX requirements. Follow policies and procedures related to areas of responsibility. Ensure accounting deliverables are completed accurately and on time. Support the review of monthly financial statements and actual vs. budget analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited business program.
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to analyze current processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Proficiency in Windows-based systems and Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to manage multiple, overlapping priorities in a high-demand, customer-centric environment.
  • Demonstrated learning agility to adapt to evolving systems, applications, and organizational objectives.
