About The Position

We are looking for a driven and organized candidate to join our Team as a Staff Accountant! The Staff Accountant is an integral member of the Accounting Team and ensures that financial information is recorded in accordance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles. This position will be an integral part of the monthly accounting close, financial statement preparation, yearly audit process and reporting to management. The Staff Accountant will report to the Controller.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
3-5 years relevant professional experience
Working knowledge of accounting systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred)
Basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Intermediate Excel skills
Strong attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality
Flexibility to work overtime during peak periods

Responsibilities

Responsible for accurately recording, reconciling, and managing cash transactions.
Reconciling bank statements with general ledger balances.
Assisting with credit applications.
Forecasting cash needs and managing liquidity.
Records journal entries as assigned during the close process for multiple legal entities.
Ensures transactions are recorded, documented, reviewed, and supported in acordance with company policies and controls.
Prepares multiple balance sheet account reconciliations for each legal entity.
Provides variance analysis on balance sheet and income statement accounts for management reporting purposes.
Reconciles the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger.
Answers and resolves any internal and external customer inquiries regarding financial results, including audit inquiries.
Assists with the preparation of the monthly financial statements and prepares explanations as needed.
Performs an internal audit regularly to identify miscoded activity.
Creates reclass entries with proper documentation to correct miscoded activity.
Provides support and prepares account transaction detail as requested by management.
Completes ad hoc reporting as requested.
Scans documents into the accounting software.
Completes and file sales tax returns.
Plays role in annual audit.
Completes regulatory and/or governmental filings.
Supports special projects and assist others as needed.
Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Accounting Manager or other team members.
