ACCOUNTANT - Surety and Corporate Insurance (USA) The Accountant is an integral member of the Finance team that will be hands-on in performing day to day accounting functions such as journal entries, as well as accountants payable and receivables. This is a high growth role with the ability to make an immediate impact on processes, learn complex structures, see multiple facets of the business and grow your career. Other specific responsibilities will include, as follows:

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a front-line accounting role.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with demonstrated project management skills and proven track record of meeting strict deadlines while staying within budget constraints.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Suite; proficient in complex accounting systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Proven ability to work within a team and independently in a demanding and fast-paced environment with competing and sometimes changing priorities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to exercise independent judgment.
  • Analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with commercial insurance accounting and intercompany accounting is preferred.
  • CPA Certification or in progress preferred
  • Knowledge of professional accounting software.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and participate in monthly financial reporting.
  • Work to help complete quarterly and year-end reporting, coordinating with parent Trisura Group.
  • Assist in annual budgeting process.
  • Collaborate with the finance team, as well as other departments, to support overall corporate goals and objectives.
  • Identify, propose, and implement process improvements.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the company's accounting systems, other systems as required.
  • Assist with external and internal audits, including coordination with auditors and preparation of supporting documentation.
