Position Overview: This position offers an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional to grow within a dynamic, multi-division organization. The role partners closely with management by providing accurate financial information, meaningful analysis, and operational support. The position is designed for someone eager to expand technical accounting skills, gain exposure to complex transactions, and develop toward broader financial leadership responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or finance.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of professional accounting experience.
  • Experience with GAAP and cost accounting, with a desire to deepen technical expertise.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative, professional approach.
  • Curiosity, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset toward learning and growth.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluently in English.
  • Employees in the position are required to be able to hear and have sufficient vision to utilize all office equipment
  • Use of hands and fingers is required to utilize standard office equipment
  • Use of feet and legs required to walk, climb and maneuver within construction sites

Nice To Haves

  • Prior homebuilding, real estate, or construction accounting experience preferred.
  • Spanish language skills are helpful

Responsibilities

  • Apply and strengthen knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting while safeguarding company assets in accordance with corporate and divisional policies.
  • Prepare and post a variety of journal entries, including WIP accruals, intercompany transactions, administrative fees, and other month-end activities.
  • Record revenue, cost of sales, and close dates for homes across multiple divisions, gaining hands-on experience in operational accounting.
  • Post cash receipts including closing funds, earnest money deposits, ACH transactions, and incoming wire transfers.
  • Assist with bank account activity, including controlled disbursement reconciliations for several divisions.
  • Prepare and reconcile month-end reports such as Aged Accounts Payable, and Work-in-Process (WIP) reports including commentary and footnotes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, accuracy, and efficiency within accounting operations.
  • Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation for closed homes.
  • Support internal and external audit requests, gaining valuable compliance and audit exposure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, finance, and external partners.
  • Process customer refund checks, void checks, and record forfeiture income as needed.
  • Consolidate and submit monthly land bank billings and confirm funding receipts.
  • Post and reconcile commission payments twice monthly.
  • Perform additional accounting responsibilities as assigned, with increasing responsibility over time.
