We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team. A successful Staff Accountant must be detail oriented, a self-starter, and have excellent organizational skills. This position requires a high level of correspondence with our sales force, customers, and vendors. Accuracy and attention to detail is a must. Must be strong in Excel and other Microsoft applications, and must be able to work well with others in a fast-paced, growth environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, experience a plus
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and accounting systems
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate with other company associates
  • Understanding of percentage of completion accounting
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Mental stamina for problem solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard and telephone, reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • General accounting including creating and posting journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations & bank reconciliations
  • Support month-end activities and year-end close process
  • Financial statement analysis and review
  • Assist with audits, as necessary
  • Manage manufacturer commission payments in project management system
  • Create management reports as needed
  • Research accounting issues and provide possible solutions
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Approve vendor invoices for posting to Accounts Payable
  • Generate customer invoices
  • Process employee expense reports
  • Other duties and special projects, as defined
