Staff Accountant II: Staff Accountant II is responsible for preparing and recording financial activity for assigned entities, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting. Analyzes revenue and expense activity and prepares month-end accrual and prepaid entries. Prepares materials for month-end close meetings and presents results of operations to senior management. Prepares financial statements for various programs within assigned entities and provide clear documentation and analysis. Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, and investigates and resolves variances and discrepancies. Apply knowledge of accounting principles and practices to complete detailed accounting tasks. Assists internal and external auditors and stakeholders, supports budget staff in developing budgets, communicates with Finance partners and management, and participates in special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent major or equivalent experience.
  • Three to five years of previous experience in accounting and financial statement preparation or one to three years of public accounting experience.
  • Must be able to work independently with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate ideas, plans, and directions effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in intermediate PC spreadsheet abilities and in interfacing with complex computerized accounting systems.
