About The Position

This Staff Accountant I position at Marsh Corporate involves a range of accounting tasks including preparing journal entries, managing financial movements, processing payments and billing, and generating administrative system accounting reports and consolidated statements. The role requires analyzing and maintaining general ledger accounts and client insured records, as well as preparing and analyzing various accounting reports, coordinating revenue and expense accruals, and ensuring timely monthly and quarterly closes. The Staff Accountant I will also perform variation and trend analysis, process funds and refunds, and request payments from third parties. Findings may be presented to senior management, partners, carriers, or clients. The position contributes to the development and documentation of accounting policies and procedures, and provides guidance to less experienced accountants or offshore staff. Compliance with corporate policies, carrier agreements, SOX, SSAE16, tax regulations, and GAAP standards is essential. Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, money moves, payments, billing, administrative system accounting reports and/or consolidated statements.
  • Analyze and maintain the general ledger accounts and/or client insured records.
  • Prepare and analyze various accounting reports including variances to forecast, budget and prior year.
  • Coordinate revenue and expense accruals.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly and quarterly close.
  • Perform variation and trend analysis for key general ledger accounts or reports.
  • Apply funds to insured records.
  • Process refunds to insured records.
  • Request payments for carriers and third parties.
  • Present findings to senior management, partners, carriers or clients.
  • Assist with the development, implementation and documentation of internal and external accounting and operating policies, procedures and process improvements for general accounting functions.
  • Verify work of and provide guidance to less experienced levels of accountants or offshore staff.
  • Provide functional advice or training to less-experienced accountant positions.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, carrier agreements, SOX procedures, SSAE16 procedures, tax regulations, local GAAP and US GAAP and local statutory regulations (as applicable) regarding financial matters.
  • Other duties as assigned.
