About The Position

The Staff Accountant, General Ledger will assist the Manager, General Ledger in the compilation and reconciliation of financial information and performing complex accounting functions. The Staff Accountant regularly collaborates with a multidisciplinary team and requires and high degree of flexibility, reliability, attention to detail, sound judgment, and creative thinking., and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
Minimum three (3) years accounting experience.
Minimum three (3) years analytical experience.
Knowledge of Accounting practices.
Mathematical aptitude and organizational skills.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Ability to read and interpret data, information, and documents.
Ability to work effectively under time constraints to meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

Three (3) years’ experience in non-profit accounting preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform all duties of the Accounting Department, including A/R and billing, collection, and General Ledger.
Train as back-up for other staff accountants’ duties.
Manage month-end and year-end closing activities.
Prepare and compile monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, reports and analyzing activity.
Prepare and assist in preparing 5500 tax return schedules, United Way reports, cost reports, annual insurance renewal form and nonprofit renewal for Better Business Bureau.
Prepare monthly journal entries and reports from the billing system for the month end closing.
Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and aging reports.
Maintain DCC and FDCC fixed asset records and related schedules.
Assist in year-end audits, single audit, and fund audits.
Maintain books for the DePelchin Children’s Center Foundation.
Support various special projects and process improvement initiatives.
