About The Position

The General Ledger Accountant will be a key member of the Finance and Accounting team, responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This role involves preparing and analyzing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of GAAP, excellent analytical skills, and a proven ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic team environment. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5 - 7 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-growing, evolving company environment.
  • Ability to build relationships with team members and develop/lead team members.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle general ledger accounting for multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Monitor and reconcile Canadian transactions, including CAD-to-USD currency conversions and foreign exchange variances.
  • Maintain and reconcile intercompany accounts across U.S. and Canadian subsidiaries.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring completeness and accuracy of reporting for both domestic and international entities.
  • Lead and mentor staff GL accountants, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Assist external auditors during financial audits and provide necessary documentation and support.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in GL operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., AP, AR, FP&A) to resolve accounting issues and improve workflow.
  • Maintain documentation of accounting policies and procedures, especially those related to foreign currency and multi-entity operations.
  • Utilize ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) to manage GL activities, reporting, and automation.
