Leidos is seeking a Sr Transport Network Specialist to support related efforts for SMIT, the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT), Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. Ultimately, the Leidos team will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network. The successful candidate will support network engineering for voice, video, and data communications (such as BAN/LAN/WLAN/WAN, cross domain solutions, communications security, and piers connectivity) in the NMCI network. The Sr Transport Network Specialist will proactively contribute to the analysis, design, planning and ongoing support to NMCI transport areas. Other duties include: Serve as a technical expert for vendor solutions and for engineering support solutions and products related to transport. Perform reach back into vendor research, development, and technical support teams to ensure effective design and application in the production environment. Perform solution development and engineering work for networking/transport. Participate in the planning of upgrades, replacement, configuration, and maintenance of networking/transport projects. Engineer solutions that provide secure, effective and efficient operation of systems, architecture, and topology for transport. Participate in new and existing IT modernization, expansion, and improvement projects related to transport for the NMCI network. Collaborate with technical experts to synthesize solutions related to transport. Lead analysis, review, and validation with customers, stakeholders, and team members for NMCI projects and changes related to transport. Significant collaboration and coordination with external customers, management, subcontractors, vendors, and other engineering disciplines. Comply with ITSM processes and procedures, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) governance, and Cybersecurity requirements within the DoDI 8500.01 and DON 5239. Support development and maintenance of engineering processes, checklists, and procedures for transport. Mentor and review the work of junior team members. Shift 5 Schedule: Wednesday through Friday and every other Saturday - 1800 to 0600 ET
