Leidos is seeking a Network Engineer to support related efforts for SMIT, the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT), Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. Ultimately, the Leidos team will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network. The successful candidate will support network engineering for voice, video, and data communications (such as BAN/LAN/WLAN/WAN, cross-domain solutions, communications security, and piers connectivity) in the NMCI network. What You'll Get to Do: The BAN and WLAN WAN Systems Engineer will proactively contribute to the analysis of system requirements, planning, solutioning/architectural design, system verification testing, and ongoing technical oversight to NMCI transport systems. Other duties include: Serve as a technical expert for vendor solutions. Perform research, development and analysis, and validation testing of vendor solutions to ensure effective design and application in the production environment Collaborate with system Domain Architects to define system requirements and recommend hardware selections based on cost and capability analysis Provide technical knowledge transfer to operational teams as part of the planning of upgrades, replacement, configuration, and maintenance of networking/transport projects Engineer solutions that provide secure, effective, and efficient operations of systems, architecture, and topology for transport Participate in new and existing IT modernization, expansion, and improvement projects related to transport for the NMCI network Collaborate with technical experts to synthesize solutions related to transport Lead analysis, review, and validation with customers, stakeholders, and team members for NMCI projects and changes related to transport Significant collaboration and coordination with external customers, management, subcontractors, vendors, and other engineering disciplines Comply with ITSM processes and procedures, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) governance, and Cybersecurity requirements within the DoDI 8500.01 and DON 5239 Support development and maintenance of engineering processes, checklists, and procedures for transport. Analyzes network bandwidth needs and recommend measures to meet those requirements Advanced knowledge of defense-in-depth principles, Network and Security architecture, network topology, IT device integrity, and common security elements
