About The Position

Hospital Transport Specialist regularly transport patients who are wheel chair bound and on occasion stretcher bound to and from hospitals, nursing facilities and private residences utilizing a specially equipped wheelchair / stretcher van. Each van is equipped with a hydraulic lift which enables the patient to stay seated at all times, from pick-up to drop-off. Hospital Transport Specialist will possess good verbal communication and customer service skills to interact professionally with fellow healthcare professionals, disabled, disadvantaged, sick and injured persons.

Requirements

• Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.
• High School Diploma or GED
• AHA BLS CPR Certification (obtained within first year of hire)
• 3 years driving experience, preferably large passenger vehicles
• Valid Wisconsin Class “D” Driver’s License with insurable driving record.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be able to stay on schedule.

Nice To Haves

• Wisconsin Emergency Medical Responder Certification or higher (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance, including a clean and disinfected vehicle at all times.
• Don and Doff appropriate PPE for all patient interactions.
• Complete a daily vehicle inspection and careful check of all assigned equipment. Report any safety or vehicle concerns to supervisor / fleet mechanic on duty.
• Transport ambulatory, wheelchair and stretcher bound patients to and from medical facilities and / or home in a safe and timely manner utilizing appropriate safety/securement devices.
• Operate hydraulic wheelchair lift, powered and manual stretchers, 2 way radio, tablet computer and smart phone.
• Utilize maps / GPS systems to locate hospitals, medical facilities and patient residences.
• Completes accurate and thorough transport documentation on all patient transports.
• Other duties as requested
