About The Position

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Systems Engineer – Servers to provide enterprise server engineering, operations, and modernization support within secure federal environments. This role will lead the design, implementation, optimization, and lifecycle management of Windows Server infrastructures—on‑premises, hybrid, and cloud-integrated. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and experience working in compliance-driven federal environments, ensuring secure, resilient, and high‑performing server ecosystems.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED "TOP SECRET" Federal or DoD security clearance and ability to obtain SCI.
  • Minimum of Six (6) years of experience in Windows Server engineering or enterprise systems administration.
  • Bachelor's degree or four(4) additional years of experience is needed in lieu of degree.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Windows Server OS, virtualization (VMware/Hyper‑V), AD services, and enterprise server architecture.
  • Experience supporting secure, compliance-driven environments (Federal Civilian, DoD, IC, Law Enforcement, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of security controls, STIGs, hardening practices, and RMF-aligned system operations.
  • Ability to plan and lead technical efforts, mentor engineering staff, and work across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert), Windows Server Hybrid Administrator (AZ‑800 / AZ‑801), Security+ (strongly preferred for DoD 8570 compliance)
  • Experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell strongly preferred)
  • Familiarity with Azure AD/Entra ID, Conditional Access, and hybrid identity integrations.
  • Experience with server monitoring, SIEM integration, and health dashboards.
  • Knowledge of Zero Trust principles and federal compliance frameworks (NIST 800‑53, RMF, STIGs).
  • Experience managing server environments at scale—multi-site, distributed, or mission-critical infrastructures.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering and operational support for Windows Server environments, including on‑premises, virtualized, and hybrid cloud deployments.
  • Architect, configure, secure, and maintain Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and core Windows infrastructure services.
  • Oversee patching, STIG hardening, performance tuning, backup/restore operations, server lifecycle management, and automation initiatives.
  • Guide modernization efforts including Windows Server hybrid integrations, cloud connectivity, and migration activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve high‑complexity incidents and systemic issues across distributed server environments.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, system diagrams, standard operating procedures, and compliance artifacts.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, networking, cloud, and application teams to ensure alignment with Zero‑Trust, RMF, and mission requirements.
  • Lead technical initiatives, serve as escalation point for junior engineers, and support planning for capacity, resiliency, and continuity.
