About The Position

This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of workers engaged in the hatching, pulling, vaccinating, and egg handling of Cobb eggs and chicks. It is an entry-level professional position responsible for supervising an individual or small group of non-exempt team members (clerical, administrative, and production). This includes providing training, monitoring work quality, and coaching team members on performance. The role is responsible for the quality of results produced by the team and requires the ability to work independently and evaluate alternatives under circumstances not covered by written procedures.

Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent experience with limited experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals using available computer programs
  • Four (4) plus domestic trips per year
  • Supervisory experience with a team of approximately 10 plus hourly team members
  • Willingness to work in a biosecurity environment which requires showering before entering the facility and could require multiple showers during the work day
  • Adherence to appropriate clothing and footwear provided by the Company
  • No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry
  • Willingness to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds)
  • Adherence to The Company Animal Welfare Policy at all times
  • Must use safe lifting techniques
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, talk or hear
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Expected to follow the required safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment

Responsibilities

  • Insure quality and effectiveness of hatchery sanitation
  • General understanding of hatchery maintenance
  • Perform duties to ensure customer order accuracy and quality
  • Supervises bio-security procedures and performs steps necessary to maintain biosecurity
  • Performs and or supervises routine quality procedures
  • Interprets company policies to team members and supports safety programs and training
  • Supervise the Sanitation team
  • Supervise the 3rd shift pull crew
  • Monitor the pulling of live chicks from hatchers
  • Providing training to team members
  • Monitoring work quality of team members
  • Coaching team members on performance
