About The Position

This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of workers engaged in the hatching, pulling, vaccinating, and egg handling of Cobb eggs and chicks. The role involves ensuring the quality and effectiveness of hatchery sanitation, possessing a general understanding of hatchery maintenance, and performing duties to ensure customer order accuracy and quality. The supervisor will oversee bio-security procedures and perform necessary steps to maintain biosecurity, as well as perform and supervise routine quality procedures. Key responsibilities include interpreting company policies to team members, supporting safety programs and training, supervising the Sanitation team, supervising the 3rd shift pull crew, and monitoring the pulling of live chicks from hatchers. This is an entry-level professional position accountable for supervising an individual or small group of non-exempt team members, which includes providing training, monitoring work quality, and coaching on performance. The incumbent will be responsible for the quality of results produced by the team and should be able to work independently, evaluating alternatives in situations not covered by written procedures.

Requirements

  • Education: College degree or equivalent experience with limited experience
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals using available computer programs
  • Supervisory: A team of approximately 10 plus hourly team members
  • Biosecurity: The jobsite is a biosecurity environment which requires showering before entering the facility and could require multiple showers during the work day
  • Biosecurity: Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company
  • Biosecurity: No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry
  • Biosecurity: Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds)
  • Biosecurity: The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times
  • Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques
  • Physical: While performing the duties of this job the team member is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, talk or hear
  • Physical: The team member must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds
  • Personal Protective Equipment Required: Team Member is expected to follow the required safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment
