About The Position

Join our team as a Senior Software Engineer, where you will be responsible for driving the strategic development and continuous improvement of software systems for cutting-edge aerospace applications. This role involves leading cross-functional teams and projects to ensure software excellence within an agile, collective environment. You will be part of a simulation software team that provides solutions for emulating and simulating aircraft operations, enabling users to train for difficult tasks, log flight hours, and learn Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs). This is an impactful role with the ability to influence software and systems designs, implementations, and delivery, working with an engaged customer and user community. The position is within the ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area, a leader in ISR and aviation, and a prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator. IAS delivers innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems, offering end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities, including design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training, and complete logistics support. IAS is known for tailoring solutions to customer requirements and consistently exceeding expectations with on-time and on-budget deliveries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in software development (higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience)
  • Expert proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Java, or Python
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Current/Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment

  • Extensive background in Aerospace and Defense industry
  • Understanding of industry standard software languages such as C#, C++, Java, and Python
  • Experience with software tools for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, library and artifact repository, and automated build
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and Spiral
  • Proficient with data structures
  • Experience with simulation software
  • Experience with simulation or emulation software development
  • Experience with DoD environments
  • Awareness of cybersecurity requirements for software development

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic projects to develop and optimize software systems for aerospace applications
  • Collaborate with design, hardware, and quality teams to ensure software meets performance and quality standards
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive software documentation, including design specifications and user manuals
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers on best practices and technical skills
  • Conduct advanced code reviews and provide constructive feedback
  • Define and implement software requirements and specifications in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Drive and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance software performance and reliability
  • Ensure software compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Communicate with program leadership and customer stakeholders
