About The Position

The Senior Server and Storage Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of enterprise server, storage, and cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability for PROENERGY’s global operations. This role supports both IT and OT (Operational Technology) environments, managing virtualization platforms, storage systems, backup operations, and cloud integrations while driving modernization and automation initiatives. The position requires advanced technical expertise, particularly in cloud technologies, to support critical systems across 40+ countries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 8-10 years of enterprise server and storage administration experience.
  • 4+ years of advanced cloud administration experience with AWS and/or Azure.
  • Experience in critical infrastructure, manufacturing, or energy sector environments.
  • Expert knowledge of Windows Server (2019, 2022, 2025) and Linux (e.g., Ubuntu, Red Hat, CentOS) administration.
  • Advanced proficiency with virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong experience with enterprise storage systems (SAN, NAS, software-defined storage) and backup solutions (e.g., Commvault).
  • Comprehensive expertise in cloud platforms with a focus on Azure (Virtual Machines, Blob Storage).
  • Proficiency in automation tools and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash) and IaC (Terraform, Azure ARM).
  • Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and storage protocols (iSCSI, NFS, SMB).
  • Understanding of operational technology (OT) and industrial control systems.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., NERC-CIP, SOX).
  • Experience with 24/7 operations and high-availability environments.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for infrastructure protection.
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in software-defined infrastructure (e.g., VMware vSAN, Nutanix).
  • Experience with cloud-native monitoring tools (e.g. Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch).
  • Knowledge of database administration and application infrastructure support.
  • Familiarity with edge computing and AI/ML workload requirements.
  • Experience in energy, utilities, or critical infrastructure sectors.
  • Knowledge of global infrastructure operations and multi-region cloud deployments.
  • Familiarity with NERC-CIP compliance and critical infrastructure protection.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or higher.
  • CompTIA Server+ or equivalent storage certifications.
  • ITIL 3 Foundation or higher.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain enterprise server and storage infrastructure, ensuring 99.5%+ availability for business systems and 99.9%+ for power generation operations.
  • Administer virtualization platforms, including VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Configure and optimize SAN, NAS, and distributed storage systems across global data centers.
  • Execute backup and disaster recovery operations to ensure data protection and business continuity.
  • Perform capacity planning and performance tuning for servers, storage, and cloud resources.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting systems for proactive issue resolution.
  • Design, deploy, and manage cloud-based server and storage solutions on platforms such as Azure.
  • Lead hybrid and multi-cloud integration, ensuring seamless connectivity between on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Execute cloud migrations, including planning, testing, and optimization of workloads.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure ARM/Bicep templates to automate provisioning and management.
  • Optimize cloud resource usage for cost efficiency, leveraging tools like Azure Cost Management.
  • Implement and maintain security controls for servers, storage, and cloud environments, including encryption, IAM, and network security groups.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as SOX, NERC-CIP, and industry-specific requirements.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and patch management to secure infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to align infrastructure with zero trust principles.
  • Develop and deploy automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, or Bash to streamline server, storage, and cloud operations.
  • Support ITIL-based processes for change management, incident response, and service delivery.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis for infrastructure incidents and implement preventive measures.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, configurations, and procedures.
  • Coordinate with vendors for hardware, software, and cloud service support.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, cybersecurity, and OT engineers, to align infrastructure with business needs.
  • Provide technical expertise for infrastructure modernization and cloud adoption projects.
