About The Position

We’re hiring an experienced, Chicago-licensed Architect to collaborate with a growing design/build practice and help expand our design and engineering services. This role combines architectural design leadership, project oversight, and team supervision across a diverse portfolio that includes rooftop decks, new construction, and residential and mixed-use renovations.

Requirements

• Licensed Architect in the City of Chicago with at least 10 years of local experience
• Self-Certification experience preferred
• Strong background in zoning, code compliance, and permit coordination
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and supervise junior staff
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Confident, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Experience managing freelance or independent architectural projects

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of rooftop decks, new construction, and renovation/addition projects across residential and mixed-use buildings
• Oversee zoning and building code compliance for multiple simultaneous projects
• Supervise and mentor junior designers throughout the design and permitting process
• Collaborate closely with in-house structural engineers, home inspectors, and general contractors
• Manage freelance and collaborative projects from concept through construction
• Communicate clearly with clients, consultants, and internal teams to ensure project alignment
• Contribute strategically to business growth and long-term practice development
