About The Position

The Sr. Salesforce Engineer brings passion, enthusiasm, and a growth mind-set to Thrivent’s Engineering Culture. They are a trusted expert, who applies business, industry, and technical knowledge of assigned assets, domains, platforms, technologies, and vendors. Collaborates with team members to ensure quality solution delivery. Responsible for implementation, execution, and maintenance of technology solutions to mitigate risk and drive business results. Provides development expertise on mid-large sized projects to solve complex problems. The Sr. Salesforce Engineer will have exposure to both the Sales and Service Cloud functionality within the Salesforce Platform. This person is responsible for designing, documenting, building (configuration and customization), unit testing, implementation, and maintenance of functionality that meets the needs identified by business partners. Successful candidates will have experience with large implementations along with a broad knowledge of the Salesforce and associated capabilities. The ideal candidate will also have strong skills in integration patterns and development in technologies off the Salesforce platform.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working in a Salesforce engineering environment.
  • Deep expertise in Salesforce Sales Cloud and Service Cloud; experience with Marketing Cloud or Financial Services Cloud is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in Apex (Classes, Triggers, Batch Apex), JavaScript, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Visualforce, and integration technologies including REST, SOAP, Change Data Capture, Platform Events, SOQL, and SOSL.
  • Hands‑on experience with Salesforce configuration and automation tools, such as custom objects, workflow approvals, Flow, Process Builder, and Data Loader.
  • 3+ years of recent experience with several integration or platform technologies, such as Java, REST/SOAP APIs, Spring Boot, Confluent Kafka, Change Data Capture, Platform Events, OpenShift, Docker, TC Server, and messaging queues (RabbitMQ, IBM MQ).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices, including tools like Visual Studio Code or IntelliJ, Salesforce CLI, Git, GitHub/GitHub Actions, and Jira.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot issues across Salesforce and connected systems, including sharing/visibility challenges, bulk DML operations, Apex errors, and external callouts.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment, collaborating directly with product owners and business stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in documenting technical solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability and motivation to learn new technologies and development tools.
  • A creative, solution‑oriented mindset with the ability to apply innovative approaches to software design.

Nice To Haves

  • Salesforce Administrator and Developer certifications preferred.
  • Deep expertise in Salesforce Sales Cloud and Service Cloud; experience with Marketing Cloud or Financial Services Cloud is a strong plus.
