About The Position

Under the direction of the VP of Enterprise Portfolio Management, the Senior Project Manager - Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) is responsible for leading high-priority, cross-functional operational initiatives that drive strategic outcomes across the organization. This role requires advanced expertise in project governance, risk mitigation, and stakeholder alignment, ensuring that complex operational projects are delivered with clarity of scope, adherence to timelines, and a high degree of accuracy. In addition to managing multiple, concurrent efforts, the Senior Project Manager serves as a mentor to project teams and junior project managers, championing best practices, fostering accountability, and cultivating a high-performance culture focused on consistent and timely delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Project Management, or related field is required.
  • Minimum six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in project management, including oversight of high-impact initiatives, is required.
  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.
  • Must have advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a sense of urgency and work will under pressure in a collaborative team environment.
  • Proven ability to ensure projects remain on schedule and concludes successfully on time and within scope.
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, emotional intelligence, diplomatic and motivational skills, including the ability to lead up, across, and down multiple business and technology organizations.
  • Must have experience demonstrating the utmost discretion and confidentiality due to access to confidential information.
  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • Role requires regular commuting between locations.
  • A valid driver's license and vehicle insurance with minimum liability limits is required.
  • Role will not operate or drive Tribe-owned vehicles or patron vehicles.
  • Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Sedentary work: involves sitting most of the time.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone.
  • Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, via videoconference and over the telephone.
  • Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.
  • Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.
  • Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in hospitality, casino operations, or Tribal Government is preferred.
  • Experience working with Wrike, Microsoft Project, and/or comparable project management tools.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Lean certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leads highly visible, complex operational projects that span multiple business areas, managing all phases of the project lifecycle from initiation through closeout. Ensures that project objectives are achieved on time, within scope, and aligned with business goals.
  • Manages scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and dependencies across high-visibility initiatives. Proactively resolves issues, monitors project health, and maintains accountability across cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Serves as the primary liaison with business owners and stakeholders, providing clear, consistent communication and facilitating alignment throughout the project lifecycle. Delivers executive-level updates, dashboards, and performance metrics.
  • Develops and maintains standardized project management tools, templates, and best practices. Identifies trends, lessons learned, and opportunities to enhance delivery performance across future initiatives.
  • Fosters a high-performing team environment by mentoring and coaching project team members, providing onboarding guidance, and promoting continuous learning. Cultivates strong team dynamics, reinforces accountability, and actively supports the professional development and growth of individuals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
