As a Senior Analyst, you'll provide detailed data analysis in support of the Product Management team. This includes performing data extraction and analysis and formulating solutions to sophisticated business issues. You'll work as part of a cross-functional team on projects, systems, workflows and processes. In addition, you may lead portions of work that contribute to the overall project.

Requirements

  • Experience in the Insurance Industry: Preferably with a focus on Personal Lines, demonstrating a strong understanding of product management, underwriting, and market strategies within this sector. Candidates should also understand the market and be able to address market trends effectively.
  • Data Skills: Advanced proficiency in data extraction, manipulation, and analysis using Excel, including handling large datasets, performing complex calculations, and developing visualization tools to support strategic decision-making and optimizing performance.
  • Strategic Positioning: Ability to define and communicate our products’ unique value proposition, driving profitable growth through pricing, risk appetite, segmentation, competitive intelligence, customer insights and distribution strategy.
  • Bachelor’s degree in insurance, actuarial science, mathematics, risk management, economics, finance, accounting, business administration or related field preferred.
  • Three years of experience in property and casualty insurance or related area and experience with data analysis preferred.
  • Knowledge of analytical tools, basic knowledge of core business functions, underwriting standard methodologies, performance measurement techniques, and systems required.
  • Basic knowledge of related pricing, marketing, company operations and products.
  • Strong business software solutions skills utilizing the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify underlying issues, devise alternative solutions, select most appropriate action and follow through to completion.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary to collaborate with internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to organize and present detailed analysis, information and concepts.
  • Ability to prioritize own work/time.

Nice To Haves

  • Progress toward CPCU, AU CIC, INS ARM, Actuarial exams or similar designations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers information from multiple sources, according to company guidelines, to perform analysis. May require gathering verbal information from internal subject matter specialists or partners and written data through reports or other external published or non-published electronic means.
  • Provides and applies context and understanding of information to anticipate the multiple variables and complexities needed to research.
  • Analyzes data from various business processes.
  • Works independently, identifying multiple inputs, variables and using business knowledge to fully consider the situation and provide a robust analysis and deployment recommendation.
  • Applies judgment, understanding, and curiosity to data to develop effective recommendations.
  • Leads completion of analysis and tasks in assigned areas within established time and service standards. May oversee coordination and collaboration across team and project work.
  • Determines necessary steps to process work.
  • Defines data sets, data sources and assumptions needed to complete the analysis.
  • Determines most appropriate format to display data, options and recommendations based on the situation.
  • Provides input on the rate review process for assigned products and on external factors not easily seen in the data.
  • Makes recommendations based on acquired functional and regional knowledge.
  • Plans completion of assignments to meet agreed upon timelines and service level agreements. May plan completion of project work that coordinates with larger team efforts.
  • Consults with team and internal partners to resolve business issues and projects of moderate complexity requiring more discernment or robust solutions.
  • Gains insight into interpersonal and organizational capabilities and opportunities to drive maximum value.
  • Identifies gaps, trends and opportunities for profitable growth for consultation with portfolio team and other internal partners.
  • Consults with leader and product manager about outcomes of analysis work and ideas.
  • Communicates with internal and external business partners by requesting or providing requested information. May assist in delivering strategic and technical information to peers, leaders and other internal partners.
  • May communicate and present outcome of projects within team and across the department, region and company.
  • Builds and strengthens relationships with peers and partners to support completion of ongoing assignments.
  • Participates in training classes, department and company meetings.
  • Pursues additional education to increase personal, professional and technical knowledge and skills.
  • May be a lead within the analyst group. Mentors less experienced associates and/or new hires as appropriate.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
