About The Position

Join the electric revolution as a Power Module Mechanical Design Engineer at Tesla! You will lead power module design, incorporating packaging assembly processes and spearhead product from design to builds. Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of full-time industry experience in power module design and optimization
• An interdisciplinary mindset with an ability to understand first principle and interactions between thermal, mechanical, fluid and electrical physics
• Knowledge of tolerance stacks, design for performance manufacturing (DFM), design for test (DFT), design for reliability. Ability to lead and/or contribute to DFMEA and PFMEA
• Experience with CAD modeling (SolidWorks, CATIA or similar), finite element analysis (FEA) & multi-physics simulations
• Experience with environmental, reliability, safety and industry standards for automotive product
• Assembly process knowledge and material science knowledge of materials used in electronics packaging (ceramics, attaches, encapsulation, wire bonding, adhesives, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Mechanical design and optimization of power modules.
• Optimization considering thermal, mechanical, assembly tolerance stacks, design for manufacturing (DFM)
• Conduct research and analysis to identify and implement new packaging materials and technologies
• Create, manage release and control package drawings
• Ensure all packaging design meet industry standards and regulations.
• Work with suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery of packaging materials
• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to packaging design and assembly
• Support assembly equipment mechanical tooling design
