Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires at least 5 years related experience.
  • Skilled specialist with proficient functional knowledge and analytical skills pertinent to administering payroll.
  • Knowledge of the accounting and legal requirements of payroll reporting and taxing.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to manipulate data, prepare reports and analyze outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer experience with SAP.
  • Ability to learn new software or reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for processing end to end payroll accurately, timely, and in accordance to Federal, State, and Local laws for salaried and hourly employees
  • Responsible for knowing all aspects of the Payroll Support job and able to manage their workload when necessary
  • Review and balance payroll batch information which includes time clock entries, bonus entries, and other compensation variable pay entries before payroll is finalized
  • Research and resolve all payroll requests or inquiries
  • Manage all approved off-cycle payment requests
  • Responsible for updating written documentation related to procedural changes, store in the Payroll Department repository, and notify payroll team when completed
  • Train various payroll personnel on error resolution
  • Run reoccurring database reports as needed for various departments within the organization
  • Perform various year-end transactions to balance earnings, deductions, and taxes to process accurate W2s
  • Conduct research, analysis and resolution to payroll related tax notices and inquiries from Federal, State, and Local authorities
  • Perform user acceptance testing for the payroll department for changes made to configuration within SAP HCM related to new wage types, various tax jurisdiction updates, GL account changes, break/fix system resolutions, implementation of acquisitions, service pack updates, and running parallel testing when necessary to validate accurate tax calculations
  • Train new Payroll Support personnel on daily procedures
  • Resolve Time and Attendance system process inquiries
  • Communicate with various personnel through written and verbal methods to facilitate strong working relationships
  • Plan and organize workload around multiple assignments to manage deadlines and deliver achievement of assigned goals and objectives
  • Lead all daily responsibilities for the Payroll Department in the even the Payroll Manager is unavailable
  • Performs a full scope of activities associated with the development and administration of the Payroll Department.
  • Analyzes current payroll processes and procedures to make recommendations for improved accuracy and efficiency.
  • Leads efforts in implementing solutions.
  • Assists in the preparation of tax filing to ensure proper accounting and accurate calculations of hours while following all accounting and legal requirements. Collaborates with outsourcing partners and internal customers to ensure proper administration of payroll and tax filings.
  • Leads projects related to payroll and coordinates project support.
  • Develops payroll policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the processing of the general payroll activities to deliver a high level of support for payroll services.
  • Resolves payroll matters with employees and/or other company parties.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
