About The Position

Join Virginia Housing and make a difference as a Sr. Multifamily Loan Officer. This position evaluates affordable multi-family housing construction and permanent loan requests, then makes recommendations for mortgage financing. They work closely with mortgage brokers and multi-family housing developers, functioning as project leaders who coordinate other internal Virginia Housing Associates. Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent work experience) in Real Estate, Business, Finance, Economics, or Urban Planning
• Minimum of 5 years of multi-family real estate lending or development experience
• Understanding of real estate development and construction
• Strong organizational skills, communication skills and relationship management experience
• Strong interest in affordable housing and mission-driven lending
• Willingness and ability to mentor junior staff
• Valid Driver’s License
• Virginia Housing requires associates to live and work within the Commonwealth of Virginia

Nice To Haves

• Affordable housing, multi-family underwriting, real estate finance experience
• Low-income housing tax credits (LIHTC) experience
• Strong negotiating skills
• Advanced degree in Real Estate, Business, Finance, Economics, or Urban Planning

Responsibilities

• Evaluates affordable multi-family housing construction and permanent loan requests
• Makes recommendations for mortgage financing
• Works closely with mortgage brokers and multi-family housing developers
• Functions as project leaders who coordinate other internal Virginia Housing Associates
• Underwriting, closing and administering both construction and permanent loans funded by tax-exempt and taxable bonds
