Position Summary Manage all aspects of product life cycle to meet or exceed performance goals (P&L, customer acquisition/retention, customer sat, etc.) across relevant market and customer segments. Manage all aspects of the portfolio's marketing mix, communications, training, and support needs. Drive effectiveness of product delivery and customer satisfaction. This role will work primarily with Xcel Energy’s programs that support our Clean Heat Plan by driving beneficial electrification at customer sites. It will require collaboration across our programs that deliver beneficial electrification to develop integrated marketing strategies that cross current product lines to provide customers with tools and resources to optimize their natural gas reduction through bundling of upgrades, equipment selection and operations, and trade support. This is a new role working with aggressive goals to reduce natural gas consumption through customer choice and accelerating the growth of beneficial electrification in the market. The successful candidate will drive results and provide clarity in a sometimes-ambiguous environment while continually incorporating learnings into the strategic delivery of the portfolio. They will develop and use data and performance metrics to identify opportunities and threats. This role will be critical in facilitating Xcel Energy’s One Way approach into the management and reporting of the Clean Heat portfolio. This includes working to track and report act on KPI’s and facilitating development and delivery of the content of monthly operating reviews (MORs) to executive leadership of both the Clean Energy and Transportation Solutions (CETS) business unit and the Colorado operating company.

Requirements

  • College degree required, or equivalent years of education and experience.
  • Five years of experience in marketing, product management or product development is required.
  • Team and peer leadership with excellent communications skills and proven results.
  • For DSM portfolio management, two years' experience with regulatory requirements and conservation programs is mandatory.

  • Engineering degree or experience marketing technical products to residential customers.
  • Five years of experience or more working in a regulated environment.
  • Experience working in the energy industry and a proven understanding of basic thermodynamic principles.
  • Five years of marketing or product management in a field that provides a complex product or service to customers.
  • A proven history of being able to deliver complex messaging to customers and stakeholders in a vernacular that they can understand and put into practice.
  • Experience designing or driving marketing campaigns that leverage segmentation and regularly incorporate performance metrics to report and validate results.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the corporation's product market vision, plans and status to meet market segments' needs and product goals.
  • Oversee and ensure all portfolio strategies meet corporate and customer needs.
  • Implement all aspects of portfolio's marketing mix including: pricing, sales channels, launch activities, acquisition and retention, life-cycle management and customer migration paths.
  • Manage all aspects of daily product portfolio issues across segments to meet goals.
  • Drive and champion initiatives across departments to achieve goals.
  • Develop budgets, sales forecasts, sales & marketing expense and profitability goals.
  • Track the progress of each portfolio (P&L) and product against target.
  • Accountability to product P&L.
  • Responsible for ensuring programs are being implemented within regulatory policies and requirements (specific for each state).
  • Drive and champion recommendations to Product Development of new technologies available.
  • Ensure product content and prices are accurate.
  • Understand customers using internal and external data to determine customer needs, need gaps and preferences.
  • Provide insight with customer journey mapping, personas, segmentation, demographics and other available data.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (operations, sales, customer care) to gain exposure and understanding to product/service/customer interactions and experiences.
  • Collaborate with business partners to understand market issues, industry developments, competitors, market segment development/evolution, pricing strategies, value proposition, etc. and make recommendations on customer strategy.
