About The Position

The Sr. Manager, Benefits is responsible for the administration, planning and implementation of the Company’s Group Health & Welfare benefits programs. This position relies on extensive experience, analytical skills, and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. Additionally, the SR MGR performs a variety of tasks including leading and managing the work of others. Requirements

  • Strong organization and time management
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint
  • Experience with Oracle HR and Benefits functions
  • Preferred bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and 10 or more years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist certificate (CEBS) preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Access & Learning Management Systems strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the implementation and ongoing analysis of the health benefits strategy including the administration, compliance, communications, evaluation & delivery.
  • Oversee all vendor relationships and partners with procurement and legal to execute contracts with new vendors, as needed.
  • Responsible for preparing all department expenses and tracking actual expenses against budget.
  • Conduct regular meetings with brokers and account managers across plans to address issues, discuss trends & best practice, utilization and opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage vendor quality and performance to include but not limited to: documentation issues, customer service, adherence to plan provisions, and performance guarantees.
  • Maintain a wellness strategy that nurtures a culture of health with an emphasis on preventive care.
  • Manage operational efficiency and lead projects related to benefits ensuring timely delivery of results.
  • Responsible for the management and growth of direct reports
  • Manage the interpretation and judgments pertaining to related policies/procedures, plan documents.
  • Make recommendations regarding employee benefits issues to management.
  • Determine compliance with legal requirements including but not limited to COBRA, HIPAA, PPACA and ERISA.
  • Collaborate with Payroll and Benefit outsource vendors to ensure benefit deductions are administered in a timely fashion.
  • Strong financial acumen to track and manage employee benefit premiums and payment to various vendors.
  • Assure coordination of the transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration.
  • Assure timeliness and accuracy of required filings; monitor and ensure compliance of benefit programs including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125, Medicare, Social Security and DOL requirements.
  • Assure the documentation and maintenance of administrative procedures for assigned benefit processes is followed.
  • Assist in the management of communications strategy and delivery to facilitate clear understanding, internally and externally, of benefits plan provisions to employees and executive management.
  • Stay abreast of benefit trends to gain an understanding of market trends and changing conditions.
  • Obtains clarification of policy whenever necessary and may use the resources available through the Compliance, Human Resources or Legal Department to do so.
