About The Position

Responsible for managing and communicating project definition, project cost, development milestones, project schedules, and project statuses in the development of Engineering and Operational plant projects. This role coordinates and manages manufacturing and warehousing construction and system implementation projects for Medline Industries. Key responsibilities include identifying project phases and stakeholders, creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation, establishing schedules and project plans, measuring and reporting project status both financially and by go-live dates, and setting project specifications through technical studies and cost estimates. The Sr Manager will also negotiate and review bids from various partners, control costs, serve as the primary contact for assigned construction projects, maintain construction files, review plans, track multiple budgets, and prepare status reports for upper management. The position involves managing business systems integration and construction work (including conveyor installs, pick module installs, parking lot, warehouse, office, and clean room buildouts) from inception to completion. Additionally, the role provides proactive leadership and direction for the Engineering / Operations Teams and assists in starting up and handing off operations to the leadership team at designated project sites. It requires coordinating internal resources and third parties to ensure projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget, assisting in project scope and objectives, securing project approval, measuring performance, and performing risk management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • At least 8 years experience with either greenfield construction, project management or continuous improvement.
  • At least 8 years experience in manufacturing or warehousing environment.
  • Ability to lead/direct the management of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Intermediate skill level in Auto Cad.
  • Advanced skill level in Microsoft Project or similar program.
  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using AVERAGE function, merging and centering cells, printing centered page and/or creating a pivot table).

Responsibilities

  • Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and is responsible for identifying key stakeholders and obtaining their collaboration.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Establish schedules and project plans and specifications for all assigned projects.
  • Measure and report on status of the project both financially and go-live dates.
  • Set project specifications by studying project requirements, and standards; completing technical studies and developing preparing cost estimates.
  • Responsible for negotiating and reviewing bids from contractors, consultants, subcontractors, municipalities or vendors and choosing partners that bring the best value to the company.
  • Control costs by approving expenditures and seeking authorizations from the upper management as needed.
  • Primary contact for assigned construction projects.
  • Maintain construction files, plans and specifications.
  • Review plans and specifications for new construction.
  • Track and maintain multiple budgets.
  • Prepare status reports and communications by summarizing information and reporting to upper management.
  • Manage business systems integration and project /construction (including but not limited to: conveyor installs, pick module installs, parking lot, warehouse, office, and clean room buildouts) work from beginning, through to completion.
  • Provide proactive leadership and direction for the Engineering / Operations Teams.
  • Assist in starting up and handing off operations to the leadership team at designated project site.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties / business partners towards the execution of projects.
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
  • Assist in the project scope and objectives, involving all related parties ensuring technical and tangible feasibility.
  • Support securing project approval.
  • Measure project performance and report accordingly to management.
  • Perform risk management to mitigate risks, for both the project and any potential risk to business operations.
