The Opportunity: The Leadership Conference is seeking a Sr. Manager, Editorial to join our Communications department. The ideal candidate is passionate about civil and human rights and will have extensive experience writing and editing print and digital media content for advocacy communication campaigns and issues that drive The Leadership Conference’s mission. This position will report to the Director, Media Relations & Editorial and is part of the collective bargaining unit.

Requirements

  • Proven commitment to civil and human rights with a passion for the issues represented by The Leadership Conference
  • Minimum of 6 years policy advocacy and political communications experience
  • Minimum of 6 years cross-functional senior management experience in a communications department
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail and the ability to bring one voice to The Leadership Conference
  • Proven track record of modernizing communications for organizations both internally and externally
  • Experience in fast-paced environments, including crisis communications and rapid response
  • Thoughtful listener with a keen ability for discernment
  • Applied experience in a journalism or editorial environment, having worked with government relations/government affairs a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collegial working style

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with media relations and audience outreach teams to plan and implement comprehensive communications strategies to support the work of the organization
  • Overseeing the entire editorial process, from concept to publication
  • Managing and coordinating the editorial work of writers
  • Support the building and management of a story-banking process that serves coalition and organizational narrative needs
  • Developing and implementing editorial policies and standards
  • Ensuring all content is consistent with the brand, style, quality and tone of voice for each specific campaign
  • Coordinating with other departments reviewing, editing, and approving content for publication
  • Staying informed about industry trends and updates
  • Perform other duties as assigned
