About The Position

The Sr. Manager, Connected Commerce Sales is responsible for driving the availability and visibility of Boston Beer Company products in the digital sales environment at retail and wholesale. As the Connected Commerce voice to our top retailer and wholesaler customers, this role is responsible for developing and implementing the organizational digital sales strategy. Selling to internal and external customers, the Sr. Manager delivers best-in-class strategies, thought leadership, and digital assets to Boston Beer’s prioritized wholesaler, retailer and internal sales partners. The Sr. Manager collaborates cross-functionally with sales, commercial marketing, business insights, and IT partners to develop and lead Boston Beer’s digital commerce sales strategies and support efforts and programs to drive digital sales revenue. The Sr. Manager leads and educates sales co-workers to embrace and drive omni-channel results, owning both short and long-term digital commerce strategic initiatives. A Hybrid position at Boston Beer requires that our coworkers reside within commuting distance to be onsite according to their teams’ weekly schedule.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive sales experience, including responsibility for revenue growth and strategic account management
  • Experience managing large strategic accounts with a track record of driving growth through strong service, insight, and innovation
  • Strong critical thinking skills with proven ability to work through ambiguous and complex situations that require problem solving
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data-driven decision-making
  • Ability to operate independently, take initiative, and manage priorities with minimal oversight
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex ideas and influence stakeholders at all levels, including external partners
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and to adapt with incredible capacity in an agile environment and evolving eCommerce landscape
  • Willingness to travel approximately 40-50% for retailer sales calls, market visits, internal meetings, and priority wholesaler engagements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in on/off-premise sales, including execution and strategy
  • Proven success managing a complex retailer or wholesaler relationships and driving results
  • Alcohol industry experience

Responsibilities

  • Drive BBC Sales initiatives and case growth through a dedicated retailer and wholesaler digital strategy.
  • Lead a team through excellent training and development and driving results.
  • Build availability and visibility of key BBC products and campaigns on the digital shelf of our accounts and at wholesalers.
  • Develop and deliver a point of view on our B2B and retail digital commerce position to wholesalers, retailers and internal Boston Beer leadership.
  • Identify gaps in Boston Beer assortment on prioritized digital channels to update and enhance directly or by working through BBC connected commerce and sales teams.
  • Work with internal connected commerce and commercial marketing team to identify and execute against assortment/content needs on all platforms where our products can be purchased.
  • Work alongside technology partners such as PROVI, VIP and Encompass on emerging technology features offered that can improve Boston Beer’s supplier position within our wholesalers.
  • Be the preferred partner of the off premise national account team to make BBC the lead supplier to our retailers through a “category management” like approach to the digital shelf.
  • Work and align with BBC sales leadership and top wholesaler partners to uncover and align the digital go-to market strategies to our biggest customers. Further multiply those efforts against all wholesalers.

  • Develop and deliver wholesaler communication that supports our connected commerce efforts.
  • Leverage market research/insight, user input and sales data to understand wholesaler and retailer emerging trends and close BBC opportunities.
  • Develop strategic plans from insights to develop the channel.
  • Develop the training playbook alongside the training team to educate BBC Sales on this emerging space to raise the organizations readiness level of the digital sales channel.
