About The Position

The Senior Manager, Business Planning will be responsible for all aspects of accounting, planning, financial reporting, and analysis, supporting Corporate Functions (IT, Legal, HR, Finance) and will serve as a key financial liaison to those teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Lead of the corporate functions, overseeing all aspects of accounting, including:
  • Monthly, quarterly and annual close processes
  • Transactional processing and control (purchase orders, eCAFs)
  • Management reporting of monthly and quarterly results
  • Corporate function aspects of 10K preparation and external reporting
  • Establish appropriate accounting methodology for new contracts
  • Help lead budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning for the corporate functions, inclusive of US benefits
  • Present results and highlight risks and opportunities to corporate functions business partners to ensure informed decisions can be made about activities throughout the year
  • Ensure financial compliance regarding POs, contracts, and line-item expense management
  • Provide adhoc info for EC meetings, Earnings prep, BoD prep, etc.
  • Strategic finance decision support for business functions, including business case review, vendor contract review, developing governance and new processes.
  • Analyze potential business decisions for optimal financial return
  • Provide finance insights to make best decisions for organization and for Biogen
  • Adhoc projects within Finance Organization, including but not limited to audit remediation, training, tracking and process improvement
  • Requires project management skills to ensure relevant parties are involved and/or informed
  • Adhoc projects will vary but can include accounting methodology and oversight, process development, business case review, budget review, and tracking metrics and/or results
  • Oversee and develop direct reports to ensure high performance, accountability & delivery of results and to create meaningful development opportunities across planning and accounting. Drive efficiencies in processes and resource allocation across functions
  • Deliver flawless and timely execution of all accounting close and control processes, with commitment to the highest standards of integrity and accuracy
  • Be a trusted business partner to the corporate functions, providing decision support by challenging and enlightening the business as to financial impacts of their decisions
  • To drive financial discipline in the organization, ensuring planned activities create shareholder value, consistent with company/EC strategy
