Itron is seeking an experienced accounting professional who will be responsible for managing and monitoring the accounting for North America (NAM) warranty reserves, inventory, and royalty cost of sales, along with the associated SOX control design and compliance in accordance with U.S. GAAP policies and procedures. The Senior Manager, Accounting role provides leadership across multiple critical locations, teams, and processes. This senior leader collaborates globally, designs and implements operational procedures that meet audit standards, improves efficiency, and supports senior management objectives. Success includes selection, oversight, development, and evaluation of personnel to ensure efficient team operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles in public companies or high‑growth organizations, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong ethical standards, professional skepticism, and high level of integrity.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and SOX compliance.
  • Understanding and experience in manufacturing processes, inventory costing, royalty, and product warranty.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
  • Process‑improvement leader with background in risk analysis, statistical data interpretation, and financial contingency analysis.
  • Highly collaborative with excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple obligations, prioritizing ad hoc requests with daily responsibilities.
  • Process‑improvement mindset with the ability to adapt to new technologies, develop and implement innovative accounting solutions, and drive digital‑transformation initiatives.
  • Strong project‑management skills with the ability to lead cross‑functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA designation or equivalent professional certification.
  • Experience with financial ERP and consolidation systems, specifically Oracle EBS and subledger transactions, and EPM Cloud.
  • Experience with financial tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, Power Automate, Noetix WebQuery, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the inventory, warranty, and royalty department, including general ledger journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Provide work assignments and project guidance to team members, fostering a collaborative and accountable environment.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities in accordance with the global close calendar using Oracle ERP and EPM tools.
  • Keep up to date on current developments and concepts in U.S. GAAP related to areas of responsibility.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Support the quarterly review and annual audit process and liaise with external auditors, providing auditable support upon request.
  • Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes and support digital transformation.
  • Support the preparation of SEC Forms 10‑K, 10‑Q, and other reports as needed.
  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior management through the interpretation and analysis of accounts, facilitating communication of risks and issues and supporting informed decision‑making.
  • Support M&A activities through review and analysis of target company financial data and other special projects as needed.
  • Maintain a strong control environment through robust documentation, standard operating procedures, and sound judgment and analysis.
  • Collaborate globally with other departments, business functions, and external partners to support overall business objectives and initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of growth, authenticity, innovation, and transformation.
