The Senior Accounting Manager will be a key member of the Finance and Accounting organization, reporting directly to the Chief Accounting Officer. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in general accounting and reporting, paired with the flexibility to contribute across M&A, systems integration, and enterprise planning initiatives. This is a high-impact position suited for a hands-on financial leader who can pivot seamlessly between transactional detail, analytical insight, and strategic execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting; aerospace, defense, or manufacturing industry experience a plus.
  • Strong analytical and modeling skills; ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting best practices.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel; experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Deltek) strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to partner across technical and non-technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee general ledger management, consolidations, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and company policy.
  • Lead or support corporate and business unit financial reporting, including joint venture reporting and consolidated financial statements.
  • Evaluate and enhance internal controls, accounting processes, and documentation to support audit readiness and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with the CAO on monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring data integrity and process improvement.
  • Participate in active and upcoming M&A transaction work, including due diligence, financial modeling, and post-acquisition integration.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth transitions between legacy and new systems, processes, and reporting structures.
  • Identify synergies and standardization opportunities across acquired entities and internal business units.
  • Contribute to financial systems conversions and enhancements, ensuring continuity and improvement across accounting and planning workflows.
  • Streamline reporting tools and data flows to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives and help develop scalable, future-ready financial processes.
  • Partner closely with Finance, Engineering, and Program teams to align financial insight with operational execution.
  • Mentor accounting staff and contribute to a culture of precision, accountability, and curiosity.
