About The Position

The Opportunity: In this role, you will report to the Onsite Supervisor and will work closely with the Avantor’s Advanced Laboratory Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science. Location: Waltham, MA, with a future relocation to Cambridge, MA, in 2026. Experience : 1–2 years of laboratory experience highly desirable; undergraduate lab work will be considered. Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Teams experience preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required. Experience with laboratory equipment such as balances and pH meters a plus. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with internal teams and external clients. Experience with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work instructions, including drafting, is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain high attention to detail. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Chemical Receiving & Distribution: Unbox, log, and deliver externally ordered chemicals twice daily.
  • Internal Stockroom Support: Pick chemicals from stockrooms and deliver to scientists’ hoods in the morning and afternoon.
  • Chemical Returns Management: Weigh, log, and sort returned chemicals into their DOT class and return them to the correct stockroom.
  • Reagent Storage Maintenance: Keep reagent storage areas clean, organized, and compliant with SHE standards.
  • Scientist Communication: Serve as a point of contact for chemical order inquiries and updates.
  • Chemical Cleanouts: Collaborate with Team Lead and Chemistry team to coordinate and execute chemical cleanouts.
  • Waste Coordination: Partner with the on-site waste team to remove empty or expired chemicals from inventory.
  • Project Support: Assist Team Lead with reagent-related tasks and special projects.
  • Safety & Process Improvements: Identify opportunities for safety enhancements and process efficiencies; communicate findings to Team Lead or Supervisor.
  • SOP Management: Review, update, and assist in revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist with solvent management and media prep tasks as needed Examples include:
  • Perform routine laboratory tasks including preparation of solvents, buffers, reagent solutions, media, and chemical mixtures.
  • Prepare aliquots for stocking and distribution across laboratories.
  • Assist with twice a year cleaning of Bio Safety Cabinets.
  • Assist with solvent receiving including unboxing, barcoding and putting away
  • Assist with empty solvent bottle pickup and disposal
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support lab operations.
