This job designs architecture for an organization on an enterprise level. Defines system and application architecture and provides vision, anticipates problems, and problem-solves for the organization. Participates in creating strategies and policies to meet overall business goals. Oversees implementation of architecture system and advises adjustments to senior leaders. Requirements

  • Education Required – High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Work Experience Required – 10 years of hands on experience with developing, programming, configuring, testing, and supporting software programs, including Epic or other enterprise information systems.
  • Certifications Required – Epic Certification. Epic Chronicles Database Programmer, Interconnect Programmer, Bridges Interface, or Hyperspace Programmer.
  • Advanced knowledge of Epic architecture and operational best practice.
  • Advanced knowledge of general infrastructure, including networking, storage, security.
  • Intermediate/advanced knowledge of cloud service providers including AWS and Azure services.
  • Excellent program management knowledge and ability to lead several underlying, interconnected projects to achieve larger, long-term business objectives.
  • Ability to develop both front-end and back-end portions of an application (full stack).
  • Familiarity with common BI and data exploration tools (e.g. Tableau).
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills and ability to formulate solutions to complex problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to take 100% responsibility for his/her actions and work under stressful situations with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
  • Ability to work variable hours, including nights, evenings, and weekends and occasional out of town travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred – Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, business, healthcare or related field.
  • Preferred – Experience with 3rd party software/device integration, SQL, Cache, JavaScript, AWS, Epic Chronicles, software development, DevOps engineering, systems administration, or systems architecture.
  • Preferred – Additional certifications/proficiencies in Epic, PMP.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and performs software development and performs in-depth analysis of business processes/functions and associated technologies; oversees research, discovery, planning, and implementation efforts to improve clinical and non-clinical processes; and develops and reports against organizational KPI’s to ensure critical business objectives are being met.
  • Designs, evaluates, selects, integrates, and implements new system architecture, systems, tools, and processes and creates architectures that enables integration with other clinical and non-clinical applications that interface with Epic into the technology ecosystem.
  • Develops complex software programs taking into account workflow design across all Ep applications, third party solutions and technical infrastructure and provides necessary documentation for production support.
  • Acts as technical advisor to accelerate advancement of leading-edge technology and solutions and keeps abreast of the latest IS projects and clinical workflow changes.
  • Designs, codes, presents, and supports custom software and hardware solutions, including Internet of Things (IoT), remote patient monitoring, web development, app development, and existing applications including Epic and troubleshoots and presents custom solutions to issues needing expert level of expertise.
  • Creates analytic solutions and designs database architecture to store, transform, and utilize data.
  • Works with senior leaders to forecast strategic initiatives and planning for long term alignment within the healthcare information technology industry.
  • Leads high visibility, high impact projects with other department architects, project managers, analysts and/or engineers and oversees the growth, scalability, timeline, and budget of custom solutions and enterprise projects.
  • Manages the design of multiple service areas or technologies within a broader service solution, as well as overall technical implementation for large and complex projects.
  • Mentors all team members in related work to ensure a healthy, secure, and stable solution implementation and conducts cross training for peers and/or shares learning with peers.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
