About The Position

Voyager’s Advanced Technologies Group is defining the future of the company and critical space and defense markets. The FPGA Engineer is a hands-on role responsible for the design, integration, and qualification of complex systems supporting these novel technology development efforts. The role emphasizes high-velocity design and technical leadership for in-space computing systems. The engineer provides technical direction and works closely with other engineering functions to ensure system architectures meet performance, safety, and mission assurance standards. The position reports to the Vice President of Technology Development and is part of the Engineering department based in Long Beach, CA. This role can be hybrid.

Requirements

  • Minimum BSEE.
  • 5+ years of experience with firmware design, integration, & test (preferably with the Xilinx family)
  • Capable of multi-tasking; working on multiple projects & supporting production activities
  • Strong technical background; capable of coming up-to-speed quickly on new technologies.
  • Good communication, with the ability to work both individually and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Great problem-solving skills a must.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and testing complex, high speed, FPGA (mostly Xilinx) designs implementing high-throughput algorithms.
  • Designing and testing embedded applications using the Xilinx Zynq family.
  • Developing architectures compatible with embedded Linux environments.
  • Designing and supporting top-level system simulations.
  • Translating system requirements into FPGA architectures.
  • Implementing and documenting FPGA designs using HDL (VHDL, System Verilog, etc.).
  • Supporting systems integration and Test Engineering to produce functional designs.
  • Implementing and contributing to the architecture of current and next generation multi-megapixel camera systems, interfacing with the Camera Link and SpaceWire standards.
  • Designing systems capable of handling Imager data and Image processing (Embedded Camera Development).
  • Creating test plans to assure integrated performance meets specification.
