The Senior Facilities Engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific is responsible for the reliable operation, maintenance planning, project coordination, and vendor execution required to support manufacturing sites. This role ensures facility systems, infrastructure, and manufacturing-support assets are maintained and coordinated to enable day-to-day operations, protect controlled-environment performance, and minimize business disruption. The position leads facility-related projects, shutdown planning, asset condition management, budget control, and cross-functional coordination across the site that directly support Thermo Fisher’s mission of enabling our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. (include Electrical Power and Distribution, HVAC, )

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in engineering, science, technology, mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in facilities engineering, facilities maintenance, or related infrastructure support.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, facility assets, and maintenance practices.
  • Proven ability to lead and prioritize multiple projects in an operating environment.
  • Experience managing budgets, cost control, purchase orders, and invoices.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Building Management Systems (BMS), and CMMS platforms (SAP PM/MM).
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, P&ID's and engineering drawings of equipment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations in a controlled environment.
  • Experience coordinating projects, shutdowns, or facility work in a live production setting.
  • Experience managing external vendors and contractors in support of facility reliability and operational continuity.
  • Experience working in molding manufacturing or a similarly demanding production environment

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement maintenance plans and schedules for facility systems (HVAC, BMS fire protection and life-safety systems) infrastructure (plumbing, electrical power and distribution, roofs, roads & pavements), and manufacturing-support assets to ensure reliable day-to-day operations.
  • Operate and continuously improve the Building Management System (BMS) to monitor and optimize facility utilities, infrastructure, and asset performance, coordinate repairs, replacements, and upgrades.
  • Plan and coordinate facility projects and shutdowns, including Class 7 cleanroom work, to minimize operational disruption and ensure schedules and communications are aligned with site leadership.
  • Manage external vendors and contractors to support design, maintenance, optimization, and execution of facility work; oversee vendor performance and contract deliverables.
  • Oversee budgets, purchase orders, invoices, and procurement for facility activities; manage facility-related insurance and risk (property, liability, business-interruption) by ensuring adequate coverage, documentation, preventive inspections, and timely claims support.
  • Assess facility capacity, condition, and space utilization; recommend and implement improvements to support current operations and future needs.
  • Use CAD tools for facility layouts, infrastructure changes, and project planning.
  • Manage and optimize waste streams; track and report energy, water, recycling, and waste metrics monthly, identify trends and opportunities, and implement site-level initiatives to advance Thermo Fisher’s corporate sustainability targets.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with maintenance, operations, safety, corporate sustainability, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless facility operations.
  • Provide regular updates on schedules, budgets, risks, and project status; escalate issues promptly.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and site requirements.
