About The Position

Stantec is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer in the Okemos, Michigan office. This role involves serving as a liaison with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. The successful candidate will possess advanced working knowledge of downstream petroleum industry operational processes to support the professional services team.

Requirements

• Expert level understanding of all phases of project execution within downstream petroleum operational environments.
• Expert level experience with federal and state regulatory agencies.
• Exercise independent judgement to resolve complex problems, analyze and interpret scientific data and information, and select methods and solutions to resolve problems.
• Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
• Thorough understanding of engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, Water Resources, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 25 - 30 years of environmental engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders and with internal and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors in preparation and coordination of project work on downstream petroleum industry projects.
• Apply advanced knowledge of current principles and practices implemented on petroleum downstream petroleum industry sites.
• Collaborate with environmental engineers, geologists, scientists, chemists, planners, hazardous waste technicians, other specialists and experts in law and business to address environmental problems.
• Perform on technically complex projects and act as a technical resource to other team members.
• Apply knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve complex issues where precedent may be limited.
