Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 5 years of engineering experience or 3 years with an advanced degree
  • U.S. Person/Green Card holder

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of ANSYS required or other FEA software.
  • Awareness of manufacturing repair processes experience a plus.
  • Experience using Pratt & Whitney/industry fatigue and fracture mechanics lifing systems: PWLIFE, ARLS, or crack growth (SURCK, Darwin, Franc3D) systems a plus
  • Strong understanding of low cycle fatigue (LCF) and fatigue / fracture mechanics theory and applications.
  • Background in structural analysis or mechanical design.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the structural assessments of repairs to commercial engine hot and cold section rotating components.
  • Knowledge of Integrated Product Development (IPD), Structures Engineering Knowledge System (EKS), and the Product Design Review process.
  • Coordinate structural analysis requirements for repairs with other ASE technical disciplines and module centers/Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPTs).
  • Provide technical coaching and mentoring to entry level structures engineers.
  • Participate on multi-disciplinary teams to provide design solutions that meet design and life requirements.
  • Work independently on structural analysis solutions when historical solutions are not available or applicable. Analysis may include both classical methods and/or detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Coordinate with others to advance the technology and improve engineering processes/methods, plus document and present results to management and other technical leaders.
  • Knowledge of Integrated Product Development (IPD), Structures Engineering Knowledge System (EKS), and the Product Design Review process.
  • Primary focal for structural analysis memos (SAMs).
