We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join our Product Design team, driving both technical and creative excellence across our digital portfolio. In this role, you are a versatile problem-solver with a passion for pushing boundaries. You thrive in multidisciplinary environments, seamlessly integrating design and engineering to bring bold product visions to life.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience shipping features or products as a frontend or full-stack developer, with at least 3 years focused on design systems or scalable UI platform projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in architecting and implementing design systems at scale in an enterprise setting.
  • Proficiency with Figma, including design token creation and conversion to code, and experience establishing robust design-to-code workflows.
  • Deep knowledge of modern front-end development technologies: HTML5, CSS/Sass, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Tailwind, and related frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG), responsive and adaptive design, and cross-platform optimization.
  • Strong experience with prototyping, including motion, micro-interactions, and interactive behavior.
  • Have proactive communication skills and a desire to work in a collaborative environment among designers, engineers, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong eye for design quality, detail, and craft.
  • Background in UI/UX design
  • Experience in AI technology
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university Design, HCI, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with design system management platforms (e.g., Supernova, Zeroheight).
  • Experience using component development and documentation tools (such as Storybook).
  • Familiarity with enterprise-scale deployment processes, CI/CD pipelines, and version control (e.g., GitHub).

Responsibilities

  • Advance and maintain design systems and core tooling, contributing to the delivery and maintenance of scalable design tokens and component libraries.
  • Integrate AI technologies into design workflows, exploring and applying AI-powered tools or features (such as automated prototyping, intelligent component suggestions, or generative design enhancements) to improve process efficiency and user experience.
  • Drive and strategize motion and animation systems, taking ownership of how animation enhances product usability, accessibility, and brand experience across CBS digital products.
  • Contribute to refining prototyping approaches and improving front-end development standards as a subject-matter expert.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers and junior team members, sharing best practices and insights to support their growth and development.
  • Represent and advocate for design system and operational initiatives in cross-functional settings, communicating technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in process improvements, documentation, and educational efforts to promote the adoption of design systems and best practices across the organization.
