About The Position

Flexible Work Arrangement: Hybrid Databases are critical to PJM. They are the repository of mission critical data that is used to run the business on a daily basis. The PJM database administrator (DBA) is responsible for ensuring that databases are: Up and running Functioning within acceptable performance parameters in order for the applications that use them to work properly Accessible by authorized users Compliant with PJM and regulatory standards Running on the most recent and secure version of the software as determined by PJM and the database vendor. The PJM DBA is also responsible for working with business units on implementations of future functionality that requires the use of a database.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent work experience
  • 2-5 years of experience Working with any database technology as an administrator or power user
  • 2-5 years of experience Working in a fast paced technology & team focused environment
  • 2-5 years of experience Working in a Linux or Unix environment
  • Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
  • Ability to visualize and solve complex problems

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • At least 4 years of experience
  • Software development experience
  • Integrating complex systems with database technology
  • Working with Oracle, SQL Server, PostGres or MongoDB databases
  • 0-5 years of experience Experience with installation, configuration, patching, migration and administration of databases including but not limited to any of the following: Oracle, SQL Server, PostGres or MongoDB
  • 0-5 years of experience Experience in using and supporting Azure Data Factories, Azure Data bricks, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL, Data flows and on-prem SQL server database technology
  • Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
  • Experience in developing applications using Oracle PL/SQL

Responsibilities

  • Work with customers to provide acceptable data persistence solutions to business needs
  • Work in a team environment to ensure that databases are operational and compliant
  • Ensure needed operation and maintenance activities take place in a timely manner
  • Provide and implement suggestions on improving the operations of PJMs database environment
  • Provide input on and drive execution of PJMs database technology architecture and strategy
  • Provide technology leadership in onboarding new database technologies and architectures
