About The Position

Position Summary: The Senior Credit and Collections Specialist is responsible for following up on delinquent accounts, updating and maintaining accurate financial records, and reducing delinquency for assigned accounts. Assist the Credit and Collections Manager with training new hires, and develop procedures to help the department work more efficiently. The Collection Specialist should exhibit professionalism and trustworthiness. Have excellent communication and negotiation skills, as well as an ability to work independently. Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 5+years Credit and Collections experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to manage across functions at various levels
  • A desire to assist others in reaching their full potential
  • Process-ended with the ability to problem solve,detect patterns, and give advice on troubleshooting
  • Strong negotiating and critical thinking skills
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and execute all assignments to closure; includes determining and addressing root causes.
  • Proven successful experience with high volume collections management.
  • Ability to embrace change and accountability for tasks

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and managing customers accounts receivable and identifying overdue accounts.
  • Contacting customers and establishing reason for past due account situation; making arrangements for payments to bring account current and follows up to ensure obligation is satisfied.
  • Maintaining records of contacts and attempted contacts with delinquent customer accounts as well as records of any payments collected from the customer.
  • Assisting the Credit & Collections Manager along with other team members in resolving customer issues and complaints concerning their receivables.
  • Determining most effective and economical means of collecting for each account; applies standard due diligence practices to collect monies owed; composes correspondence requiring knowledge of procedures and practices in collections and sends a variety of standard collection letter/email.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with customers and all functional groups essential to accomplish objectives.
  • The ongoing process of focus on continuous improvement on making recommendations and participating in implementations to increase efficiency.
  • Keeping management apprised of unusual or non-standard issues, escalating when appropriate.
