About The Position

Located in our Bohemia, NY corporate office, the Sr. Benefits Administrator will be responsible for the strategic planning, administration and day-to-day management of employee benefits programs, workers compensation, as well as supporting the Engagement, Events and department’s overall HR needs. The ideal candidate is an experienced benefits professional who combines strong regulatory knowledge with a proactive, associate-focused mindset. They are both detail-oriented and strategic, capable of managing complex benefits programs with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Requirements

  • Experience administering a self-insured program
  • Effective oral and written abilities; able to conduct a professional presentation for varying sized groups
  • 5-7 years of experience in benefits administration, with increasing responsibility
  • 3+ year of working with an HRIS and benefit platform
  • High level of detail and organization with the ability to work independently
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Must be tech-savvy with a willingness to learn any technical equipment or systems
  • Flexibility to travel to other locations, which includes out of state and several overnight travel trips per year
  • Flexibility to work off hours, on occasion
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Responsibilities

  • Partner with brokers to review quotes, benchmark plans, and evaluate cost-saving opportunities for fully insured and self-insured annual benefit plans
  • Oversee implementation of plan changes, including system updates and vendor coordination
  • Lead employee communications and education around all benefits
  • Manage and administer benefit programs, including benefit insurance and retirement plans with the support of the Benefits Administrator
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electronic data interchange (EDI) files to the carriers and payroll platform
  • Lead benefits audits, reporting, and reconciliation activities
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., ACA, COBRA)
  • Apply expertise to identify and evaluate inefficiencies in processes
  • Maintain workers compensation records and reporting across multiple policies
  • General oversight of the Benefits Administrator related to day-to-day tasks, auditing and reporting
  • Partner with the Engagement Ambassador to plan and execute company-wide events and engagement tasks
  • Occasionally travel to other locations to support benefit education and HR activities
  • Provide direct support to the HR VP and other HR department projects as required
