Responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of computer and robotic systems used in a variety of manufacturing departments. They must be proficient in multiple skill clusters including electricity and electronics, fluid power, mechanical systems, and manufacturing processes. Automation technicians perform the administration, configuration, design, maintenance, programming, and qualification of various systems, while also troubleshooting any issues that might occur. This role requires a systems thinker who sees the business and its operation holistically, an optimizer who constantly challenges the organization to work smarter, and someone who anticipates and looks ahead to minimize potential issues. The individual will act as an operational accelerator, driving continuous improvement and advocating for safety and scalable solutions. They will work within existing structures while striving to improve and standardize them, providing accurate information and galvanizing others toward common goals. The role involves influencing through knowledge, relationships, data, and perspective to persuade, educate, and navigate, gaining buy-in and adoption of ideas and practices at scale. It is data-informed, focusing on quantifiable business outcomes and evaluating based on quantitative feedback. The tech must handle the unexpected without losing sight of important objectives and react where greatest leverage points exist. Building relationships individually and with teams across shifts and practices, creating a 'win together' ethic, serving as a liaison between the shop floor and engineering, and keeping the pulse of the floor are also key aspects.
