About The Position

The Senior Asset Manager provides strategic and centralized ownership of the organization’s IT Asset Management (ITAM) program. This role is responsible for establishing governance, ensuring lifecycle compliance, maintaining accurate asset data, and driving scalable, enterprise-wide processes. The Senior Asset Manager leads high-impact initiatives—including CMDB implementation, inventory systems, asset policies, and procurement optimization—while partnering cross-functionally to maximize asset utilization, financial return, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in IT asset management, configuration management, or inventory management for hardware and/or software assets.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives from evaluation through implementation and ongoing sustainment.
  • Strong knowledge of asset lifecycle governance, auditing best practices, and data quality controls.
  • Exceptional process design and documentation skills, including policies, procedures, workflows, and reporting.
  • Ability to analyze metrics, assess risk, and communicate insights, recommendations, and status updates to leadership.
  • Prior people leadership experience, including coaching, performance management, and setting operational standards.

  • Experience working with CMDB and IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms.
  • Background in IT procurement processes and vendor management.
  • Hands-on experience implementing or optimizing inventory and asset management tools.
  • Familiarity with compliance, audit readiness, and large-scale technology environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end ownership of IT asset management programs, ensuring accurate tracking, data integrity, and lifecycle governance across hardware and software assets.
  • Lead the evaluation, selection, implementation, and ongoing governance of a Configuration Management Database (CMDB), including defining data standards, controls, and adoption practices.
  • Design, implement, and optimize an Inventory Management System to support operational, financial, and audit requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce asset management policies and procedures, including asset acquisition, tagging, tracking, utilization, disposition, and compliance.
  • Formalize and continually improve IT asset procurement processes, including intake, approvals, fulfillment, vendor coordination, and documentation.
  • Establish and own an asset auditing cadence; reconcile inventory records, investigate variances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), cost savings, and return on investment (ROI) related to asset management programs.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize asset utilization, reduce waste, enhance sustainability initiatives, and improve lifecycle outcomes.
  • Serve as a primary liaison between IT, Security, Finance, Procurement, and Operations to align asset strategies with organizational priorities.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to asset management technicians or administrators, setting expectations, assigning work, and ensuring consistent execution of processes.
