About The Position

The Senior Accounts Payable Clerk, under the guidance of the Controller, will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounts payable within a collaborative and team-focused environment. Key duties include conducting weekly check runs, accurately entering accounts payable invoices, processing monthly commissions, and managing essential forms such as 1099-MISC and Canadian T-4. This role also involves active communication with internal and external stakeholders to resolve invoice-related inquiries and secure necessary payment approvals. Additionally, the Senior Accounts Payable Clerk will meticulously handle year-end governmental compliance filings.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years progressive experience in an office setting, preferably in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with multi-currency environments.
  • Understanding of standard accounting concepts and processes.
  • Flexibility to adapt to business requirements, including month-end close and payment runs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in paperless processing environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Scan and index invoices and checks to ensure accurate and organized record-keeping.
  • Conduct weekly check runs, distribute payments, and manage expense report processing, including payments and month-end accruals.
  • Ensure accuracy by reconciling accounts payable general ledger transactions with sub-ledger activity.
  • Assess general ledger coding for accuracy and relevance.
  • Set up new vendors in the accounts payable system and obtain necessary documentation, such as certificates of insurance.
  • Compile year-end details for meal and entertainment tax schedules.
  • Lead team huddles and participate in interdepartmental meetings to address challenges and enhance efficiency.
  • Actively contribute to setting team objectives and measuring progress.
  • Take on related tasks and projects as assigned to support the accounts payable function.
